The more you WIKI, the more you LEARN

Hello everybody!

During the past weeks we wrote a contribution to Edutechwiki.
In order to realize this task, we collaborated with our classmates.
Although our works were quite good, we had to clean up our analyses, following the suggestions proposed by Daniel Schneider, the author of the wiki, and by our teacher.
At the end of my experience, I was satisfied but I understood that writing wikis is not so easy.

First of all you have to follow some common basic rules such as:
-collaborate with other contributors
-divide the text into effective paragraphs in order to make it clearer
-write links and references (this means always cite your sources)
-highlight significative words in bold
-create internal links
This doesn't mean to be pedantic but simply understand that collaborative writing requires to share rules in order to share knowledge!

Then you have to win a big temptation: Plagiarism.
In fact, you should not limit your analysis to a summary of quotations but you have to make the effort of writing something original, using your own words.
That's not all.You have to be selective in two ways:
1.The Net is full of information and you have to select only the most reliable sources (it seems easy but you can't imagine how long and insidious this process could be).
2.You should avoid repetitions of concepts and be concise: a long text might not capture the reader's attention!

Furthermore, I think there is another important thing that I learned from my wiki experience.
We used to work individually but this time we worked together with other people. This is certainly a positive aspect but , in my opinion, you took a while to really appreciate it.
In fact, our team (Francesca, Lucrezia and I) was so disappointed when, after having re-written in a more correct way our references, discovered that someone(probably from bloggingenglish1 group) printed a new page and, in doing so, deleted our work!!

Anyway...That's the way a wiki is!
